Why I'm running for Selectman

I have called Dracut home for over 40 years, and have recently noticed that the relationship between our Board of Selectmen and our Town Manager is not working.

This is why I hope to bring change to Dracut by running for our Board of Selectmen.

We need to bring a rational voice to Dracut's Board of Selectmen. I am not aligned with any one group or special interest in town --or on the Board-- and therefore will make the very best decisions for everyone in Dracut.  The current Board's "3 versus 2" voting "blocks" have created our current crisis.   The Town deserves change.

My mission is to promote solutions for some of the most critical issues we face, including: managing our town's growth; minimizing our looming budget deficits; and continuing to invest in Dracut's schools, infrastructure, and people.  I will do this by voting for what is best for Dracut, and not because I must vote to preserve some strange, controlling, "power block."

I believe, one of my fellow candidates is, also, independent.  But: the other is not.  Instead, he has been hand picked to preserve the 3-2 Board that has brought the Town to the "situations" we currently face.  If "we" want change in Town Hall, you must determine which candidate represents "status quo" and which candidates really do offer: change.

Please join me as we work towards a better Dracut for everyone.

Testimonials

"Don Plummer is my neighbor and friend. He can fix your computer, side your house, tune your car, and give you CPR. He and his terrific wife, Renee, a CPA, have raised three extremely successful children: a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist; a biomedical engineer with a PhD; and a lawyer/journalist who regularly writes for The Wall Street Journal.

"Don is the intelligent choice to be our next Selectman. I whole-heartedly support his candidacy and urge the Dracut community to elect him!"

 - George A. Malliaros

"My family and I are supporting Don Plummer for Selectman.  Don is a longtime Dracut resident with a successful business background. Don is a critical thinker and problem solver, and a committed supporter of open space preservation and professional government.

"Dracut is facing urgent potential budget deficits and long-term revenue problems, while also struggling to deal with state mandates requiring highly dense development that will  negatively impact our community both in terms of quality of life and delivery of services.

"These critical issues will require a selectman with Don’s strong business background and problem-solving abilities who will also have the independence to make the best decisions for Dracut.  We need change in Town Hall, and Don is the right choice: for Dracut."
